Here’s some fact for you Rob.

The city provides firefighters with turnout gear.... jacket, pants, hood, helmet, gloves and structural firefighting boots.

The city provides 2 class B uniform shirts and 2 pairs of pants.

I don’t know about you, but 2 shirts per week (Nevermind a 24 hour shift) certainly isn’t enough for me. Nevermind in the summer when it’s 85 degrees. Nevermind the damage done to them when firefighters are cutting the lawns in their uniforms. Nevermind when they’re painting the walls inside the station. Nevermind when they are fixing broken toilets or the washing machines in their “laundry facilities”.

Nevermind the abuse those uniforms take when bunker gear is thrown on top of them multiple times each day. Nevermind when god forbid they want to keep their heads warm and would like to purchase a “gang toke”. Or maybe they even want gloves that fit so they can hold into a charged hoseline. Maybe a winter jacket would be nice. Maybe a durable pair of boots that are kicked off without being untied every time a fire call comes in. Or maybe the laundry facility attendants need to do a better job getting the vomit, blood and bodily fluids off after each call.
