To the Editor,
There is currently a serious increase in the worldwide rate of infection of the corona virus that will certainly impact our daily lives. It may even create a need to go back to the draconian regulations imposed in the early months of this pandemic. The thought is extremely depressing yet changes need to occur now. In plan B the focus should be in our public and private interactions so we may be able to live our lives with a reasonable sense of normalcy.
Our coming holiday season will present a myriad of potential means to pass on this deadly virus just by the close contacts we have at this time of the year. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's have always been times of large public and family gatherings. This year they may become increasing deadly if we do not impose stronger self restrictions for the safety of all.
Changes will be required and these may include no large public assemblies, parades, or holiday parties. Create a new safe means for trick or treaters. Limit you and your family exposure to certain holiday events. Christmas will have the most difficult time to accept new restrictions as we naturally enjoy the close warmth of family and friends.
We are all part of the solution so plan now to create your own new holiday experience. Try to include a reasonable number of family and friends to still share the joy and friendship of each happy holiday this year.
