Gary J. Merritt, 61, passed away Friday, May 7, 2021. Born in Warwick, he was a son of the late John W. and Virginia M. (Capron) Merritt. He was the beloved brother of Sandra M. Merritt, Paula E. Merritt, William F. Merritt, Nancy M. Knight, John W. Merritt, Jr. and Donna J. Rave. Gary also is survived by many nieces, nephews’ great nieces and nephews. Gary was an autobody mechanic and sign maker for local businesses. He played the drums and saxophone and was an avid music lover and enjoyed singing and entertaining. He enjoyed nature, riding his bicycle and being outdoors. Gary appreciated the simple things in life but most of all his biggest joy was being around his family.
His funeral service will be held Monday, May 17, 2021 at 11 am in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Burial will be in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket.
