Sean Hagberg, PhD, wants certain of your readers to wallow in white guilt and perpetual self-loathing based solely on the color of their skin (“You should feel uncomfortable,” March 4).

This blatantly racist proposition should be rejected outright. It turns Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream of a colorblind society on its head and ignores the real advances in civil rights that have occurred within our lifetime.

Hagberg denigrates King’s memory by denying his achievements. His dark vision of America insinuates that Dr. King died in vain.

That, of course, is a lie. America is a better country because of Martin Luther King Jr.

People of goodwill should embrace that truth as we continue striving for a more perfect Union.

You are right on! Just when we were making great advances. We had a black President for two terms and a black female Vice President; and all Americans, no matter what color, are better off than they've ever been . Now everybody wants to go backwards. Martin Luther King was about the content of our character. He did not look at the color of the person. Everything appears to be about race now. And no one is even hired on this Administration for their achievements but for their skin color or sex. This is identity politics . It is also the opposite of what Martin Luther King wanted.
