Raising Cane's Johnston confirms January opening

The giant blue banner across the building seeks new managers. The pay starts at more than $20 per hour.

Raising Cane’s pledges to open its first Ocean State location to start the New Year.

“Expected to open early January 2024,” said Hannah Henderson, Senior Manager, Public Relations, Fry Cook & Cashier for Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers. “I will share an exact date with you once more firm, as well as what customers can expect on our opening day.”

Raising Cane’s has a famous reputation for tasty chicken fingers — in fact, they only serve chicken finger meals — and also huge opening day giveaways.

“I can tell you we will be giving away ‘Free Cane’s for a Year’ to 20 lucky customers!” Henderson said. “That usually draws a crowd!”

Interested prospective employees can apply at Workatcanes.com.

The restaurant will share a shopping plaza along Atwood Avenue with Burlington, Pet Smart and Aldi.

“I am grateful to Raising Cane’s for investing in the property off Atwood Avenue and giving us one more occupied building in the town,” said Johnston Mayor Joseph M. Polisena Jr. “I’m also happy they chose Johnston as their first location in Rhode Island. I wish them the best success.”

Founder Todd Graves named his restaurant Raising Canes after his Labrador Retriever Raising Cane.

The first store opened in 1996 near the North Gates of Louisiana State University. Since then, Graves’ empire has expanded across the country. The Johnston location will be the chain’s first in Rhode Island.
