Ryleigh's Golden Ticket wins $5,500 for Wyman School

A second lucky Golden Ticket winner has been announced, this time going to Ryleigh Manson, a second-grader at E.T. Wyman Elementary School.

Ryleigh is the second Fienstein Jr. Scholar student from Warwick to be awarded the prize: a $5,000 grant for their school, an additional $500 for a nonprofit of their choice, and a surprise gift from the foundation. Created by Alan Shawn Feinstein, Feinstein Jr. Scholar students received an individual numbered ticket, along with their Jr. Scholar Card. Students were instructed to keep an eye on the Feinstein Virtual Club and Facebook pages for the winning numbers, randomly drawn each Monday.

“This is an exceptionally interesting way of motivating students,” said Feinstein, who is hopeful that the contest will remain popular enough to continue through the end of the current school year.

According to a statement from Principal Ronald Celio, “Ryleigh is always eager to partake in acts of kindness for her community. She participates regularly in food drives, clothing drives, and breast cancer awareness fundraisers. In addition to these charities, Ryleigh and her classmates are making holiday cards for our local seniors in nursing homes.”

Along with her mother and siblings, Ryleigh has decided to partake in Adopt a Grandparent this holiday season. This charity provides gifts to seniors who are oftentimes forgotten about.

“We are very fortunate to have her at our school,” said Celio.

Ryleigh decided to donate the $500 she won to Wyman Elementary School.

Celio says the school plans on “using the funds to help support extended after school learning programs for all students once we are able to return to full in-person learning.”
