Senior project…a career step?

Pilgrim senior Jack O’Donnell has an attachment of the city skate park in Oakland Beach. It’s where he spent a lot of his time as a kid. So, it’s not surprising that he picked cleaning up the park as his senior project. He rounded up a dozen volunteers Saturday to rake the surrounding grounds and had it not been raining, they would have painted over the graffiti that has marred park jumps and ramps. O’Donnell also received a lot of help from area businesses including Jersey Mike’s that provided sandwiches and Lowe’s, Walmart and Salk’s Ace Hardware that came up with paint and other supplies. He expects to get an assist from Engineers Local 57 that are taking on the job of cleaning out the brush along one end of the park. O’Donnell plans to attend Bryant University in the fall where he aims to study business and entrepreneurism. His goal: running his own skateboard company and team. But first the plan is for skateboard jam at a refurbished Oakland Beach park. (Warwick Beacon photos)
