The Brain Injury Association of Rhode Island (BIARI)

will host a virtual trivia tournament Prove You are a Brainiac to ensure programming and services remain available to Rhode Islanders living with brain injury. Every hour someone in Rhode Island sustains a brain injury. Estimates indicate that 5.3 million Americans live with brain injury-related disabilities at a cost exceeding $82 billion annually. In Rhode Island it is estimated that each year over 12,000 Rhode Islanders will suffer some level of Traumatic Brain Injury serious enough to require a hospital emergency department visit.

This does not include acquired brain injuries or injuries that are untreated.

BIARI, located in East Providence, increases awareness of brain injury and its consequences, provides preventive education, hosts a resource library, and support groups.

BIARI staff, volunteers and members include brain injury survivors, their families and friends, healthcare professionals, physicians, providers of brain injury rehabilitation, and other advocates.

Prove You Are a Brainiac will have teams of four competing on September 17, at either 6:30PM or 8:00PM, and several winning teams moving on to the finals on September 24 at 7:30PM. The event will be professionally hosted and teams will be quizzed on all sorts of topics with a few brainteasers sprinkled in! Prizes will be awarded and, in addition to bragging rights, the final winning team will receive The Brainiac Trophy. It's sure to be fun, challenging and safe! Best of all, it will ensure BIARI has the resources to meet the needs of individuals and families living with brain injuries! For info visit www.biari.org or call 401-228-3319.
