LARCENY

Shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 14, Officer Frank J. Montanaro responded to the parking lot of Kent Hospital on Toll Gate Road for a report of larceny from a motor vehicle.

At the scene, the reporting party told Montanaro that she had parked her vehicle – described as a 2009 Honda CRV – in the hospital’s employee parking lot at approximately 10 a.m. that morning. When she returned to the vehicle at approximately 4:30 p.m., she noticed something was hanging from it and called AAA. The responding AAA technician, who was at the scene when Montanaro arrived, advised that the vehicle’s catalytic converter had been cut out.

No security camera footage was immediately available. The matter was documented. *** At approximately 5 p.m. on Nov. 16, Officer Richard P. Odell met with a man in the lobby of Warwick Police headquarters regarding a past larceny incident.

The man said he dropped a pair of bluetooth headphones at Edge Fitness on Bald Hill Road at around 11 a.m. that day and inquired with the facility’s staff when he realized the headphones were missing. The staff reviewed security camera footage and observed one staff member picking up the headphones and asking if they belonged to a person nearby. That person said yes and took the headphones before departing the facility. The matter was documented. SHOPLIFTING

Shortly before 8 p.m. on Nov. 15, Officer Matthew T. Caradimos responded to the Macy’s location at Warwick Mall for a report of a shoplifting incident in progress. Dispatch advised that the male suspect had entered a red Nissan Altima and was heading toward West Natick Road.

Caradimos and Officer Michael C. Bailey located the suspect vehicle on the west side of the mall. They then observed the suspect leave JCPenney, at which point he was taken into custody.

Macy’s loss prevention personnel told police the suspect had been observed walking through the store with a large orange shopping bag earlier that day. The suspect is said to have selected a black jacket valued at nearly $200 and removed its security sensor before concealing it the bad and exiting the store without making any attempt to pay.

Police say the suspect was found in possession of a circular, silver magnet, which he is believed to have used to remove the security sensor.

Padraic M. Shaw, 24, Millville, Massachusetts, was arrested on charges of shoplifting and unlawful use/removal of a theft detection devise. He was transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing and held as a bail violator. SUSPENDED LICENSE

Just before 1 a.m. on Nov. 17, Officer Michael C. Bailey was conducting a patrol on Airport Road when he observed a white GMC truck bearing Florida registration traveling at approximately 50 mph in a 35 mph zone.

Bailey followed the vehicle through the Hoxsie intersection and onto Glenwood Drive, at which point he initiated a motor vehicle stop. He made contact with the operator, who is said to have advised that he did not have an active license and might be wanted on an active Superior Court bench warrant. A records check confirmed both the warrant and the suspension of the operator’s license.

John Lineberger, 40, 20 Church Ave., Warwick, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license, third or subsequent offense, and taken into custody on the warrant. He was transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing and later taken to the Adult Correctional Institutions. *** Shortly before 4:30 a.m. on Nov. 15, Officer Cody Wild responded to a reported hit-and-run accident on Eastman Street.

At the scene, the reporting party said his 2017 Honda Civic was parked outside his home when he heard a loud crash. He then went outside and observed the vehicle had been struck. A neighbor said the vehicle involved had left the area heading south on Eastman Street.

Another officer located the suspect vehicle – a 2000 Honda Civic – in a driveway on Eastgate Drive. It is said to have had front-end damage matching the hit-and-run incident, and its airbag had been deployed.

Wild responded to that location and made contact with a woman inside the home. She is said to have initially denied operating the vehicle, although the officer observed her bottom lip was bruised and bloody and there was a “small amount of blood” on the deployed airbag. After subsequent questioning, the woman is said to have acknowledged driving the vehicle and being involved in the hit-and-run accident. A records check then revealed her license was suspended and she had previous convictions for driving with a suspended license.

Bianca Montanez, 30, 77 Rock Ave., Pawtucket, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license, third or subsequent offense, and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. She was later released with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court. She was additionally cited for driving without insurance, driving and unregistered vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident.
