THEFTS

At 4 p.m. on April 5, Officer Justin Martin responded to a Quaker Lane residence for a report of a stolen motorcycle.

At the scene, the reporting party told Martin he had parked his motorcycle – valued at approximately $4,000 – behind his apartment building at approximately 5 p.m. on March 28. The motorcycle was not operable, the reporting party said, because its battery had been removed and he had the only set of keys. The motorcycle was found to be missing on April 5.

No security camera footage was immediately available. The matter was documented and the motorcycle was reported as stolen.

Just before 6 p.m. on April 4, Officer William Holz and other officers responded to the Shaw’s Supermarket at 320 Warwick Ave. for a report of shoplifting. Dispatch advised that a male suspect argued with store security before leaving the scene on a bicycle.

At the scene, officers were advised the suspect was seen traveling north toward Cranston. A check of the area proved unsuccessful. A manager at the supermarket told police the suspect had taken several items from the meat department before exiting the store without making any attempt to pay.

The matter was documented.

On the afternoon of March 31, Officer Britton Kelly spoke by phone with a woman regarding a report of a stolen diamond ring.

The woman told Kelly that she had previously taken the ring to a post office in East Greenwich for delivery to a New York City jewelry store, where it would be repaired. The ring had been prepackaged for shipping and the package contained no external markings regarding its contents.

The woman said she was notified that when the package arrived at the jewelry store, it was open and the ring was missing. A report was filed with the U.S. Postal Service, and Warwick Police documented the matter.
