LARCENY

At approximately 4:43 p.m. on Feb. 17, Officer Jessica Masso responded to the Warwick Mall regarding a larceny complaint that had been submitted online. Masso had previously made contact with the reporting party regarding the incident in question, which occurred Jan. 24.

At the scene, the reporting party told Masso she had left work at the T-Mobile store at the Mall at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 24. She then found her vehicle, a 2017 Honda Accord, had been entered, with “all of the items from her glove compartment and center console … thrown onto the passenger seat.” The vehicle, which the reporting party said she had locked, was undamaged.

Initially, the reporting party did not believe anything of value had been taken. Later on the night of Jan. 24, however, she realized a Nintendo Switch game system belonging to her son had been in the vehicle and was missing. The game system was valued at $300.

The reporting party said a subsequent review of security camera footage at the mall had not shown the theft or any suspects.

The matter was documented and forwarded to detectives.

At approximately 7:20 p.m. on Feb. 20, Officer Michael Bailey responded to the Greenwood Inn on Jefferson Boulevard regarding a larceny incident that occurred earlier that day.

At the scene, the establishment’s owner told Bailey that an exhaust fan and metal sheet racks kept behind the restaurant had been stolen. The owner then showed the officer security camera footage, which captured a white pickup truck pulling into the back parking lot at approximately 4 a.m. that morning. The footage showed the vehicle’s bed was empty when it entered the lot but was filled with the fan and racks when it left the scene.

The matter was documented.

At approximately 10:41 a.m. on Feb. 22, Officer Robert Canis-Langlais responded to the Sparrow Point II apartments on Cowesett Road for a report of larceny.

At the scene, the reporting party told Canis-Langlais that a sound bar and subwoofer had been stolen during the course of moving out of his apartment. The items were last seen on Feb. 18 or Feb. 19, the man told the officer. The sound bar was valued at approximately $150.

Canis-Langlais observed no signs of forced entry into the apartment. Attempts to reach the building’s maintenance office were not immediately successful. The matter was documented and forwarded to detectives.

At approximately 3:10 p.m. on Feb. 25, Sgt. Gregory Johnson met with two women in the lobby of Warwick Police headquarters regarding a larceny complaint.

One of the women said she had recently moved to Warwick from Providence and purchased a vehicle, for which the dealership had handled registration. The dealership was supposed to have the vehicle’s plates forwarded to her when they arrived, she said.

The new plates had still not arrived, however, by the time that the vehicle’s temporary registration expired. The woman inquired with the dealership and was told the plates had been mailed to her Providence address. She told Johnson she had arranged for mail to her old address to be forwarded to her new Warwick residence.

“She stated that she had never received the plates, and also checked at her former address in Providence, but the plates were not there either … It is uncertain if the plates were stolen from the mail in Providence or Warwick,” Johnson reports.

The matter was documented and the registration plates were entered into police records as stolen.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 26, Officer Kyle Fitzsimmons responded to a Warwick Avenue home for a report of a stolen package.

At the scene, the reporting party told Fitzsimmons she had received electronic notification that an order from the online pet supplies retailer Chewy had been delivered to her home at approximately 2:30 that afternoon. When she checked for the package a short time later, however, it was gone.

The matter was documented.

WARRANTS

Just before 6 p.m. on Feb. 18, Officer Michael Bailey was conducting a routine patrol on Interstate 95 north when he observed an Acura TL traveling above the speed limit. Bailey clocked the vehicle at 66 mph in a 55 mph zone.

Bailey initiated a motor vehicle stop and made contact with the male operator, who was found through a records check to be wanted on an active bench warrant issued from Sixth Division District Court.

Joseph Rosario, 33, 59 Follett St., Apt. 2, East Providence, was taken into custody on the warrant and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. He was later taken to the Adult Correctional Institutions pending a court appearance.

Shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 24, Officer David Boardman was conducting a patrol on Jefferson Boulevard when he “observed two males walking through the abandoned parking lot between the Courtyard Marriott and La Quinta at 36 Jefferson Blvd.”

Boardman reports the men were carrying duffel bags, which they put down before “crouching behind a vehicle in the La Quinta parking lot.”

Boardman approached the man and asked for their identification. A records check then revealed one of the men was wanted on an active bench warrant issued from Superior Court.

Ryan Laliberte, 34, 500 Mendon Road, Apt. 128, Cumberland, was taken into custody on the warrant and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. He was later taken to the Adult Correctional Institutions pending a court appearance.
