FATAL CRASH

A Warwick man was killed when his car went off the roadway on Interstate 95 and became submerged in the Pawtuxet River on Tuesday morning, according to Rhode Island State Police.

After emergency personnel responded to the scene at approximately 5:30 a.m., an investigation found that Edouard Myto, 45, was driving south in a Nissan Maxima when his vehicle “vehicle veered right, traveled across the breakdown lane and left the roadway” approximately 500 feet north of exit 13, a statement from State Police reads.

At that point, the vehicle “entered the wood line and became submerged in the Pawtuxet River.”

Myto was removed from the vehicle by Warwick Fire personnel and transported to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident. The investigation remains ongoing, according to State Police.

LARCENY

Shortly before 6 p.m. on April 15, Officer Brenen Cardoza responded to a Dundas Avenue home for a report of larceny.

At the scene, the reporting party told Cardoza a package had been stolen from her porch. The package – which contained household goods and a kitchen shelf with a combined value of approximately $300 – was said to have arrived April 14, but it was missing when the reporting party went to retrieve it the next day.

The reporting party did not witness the theft, and no security camera footage was available. The matter was documented.

Just before 9 a.m. on April 22, Officer David Boardman responded to The Battery Shop at 2411 Post Road for a report of larceny.

At the scene, the reporting party told Boardman that the catalytic converter had been stolen from a customer’s 2003 Ford F-250 Super Duty truck sometime overnight on April 20. The cost of the damage was placed at roughly $1,500.

No security camera footage was immediately available. The matter was documented.

At approximately 6:20 p.m. on April 22, Officer Maxwell Neiley responded to an Arnolds Neck Drive home for a report of larceny.

At the scene, the reporting party told Neiley that a gas grill valued at approximately $500 had been stolen from the property the previous night. The grill had been located on the side of the house and was last seen on April 21. No other items appeared to be missing.

No security camera footage was immediately available. The matter was documented.

SHOPLIFTING

At approximately 5:50 p.m. on April 8, Officer Michael Bailey and other officers responded to the Walmart at 840 Post Road for a report of a shoplifting incident in progress. Dispatch then advised that a female suspect was in the custody of loss prevention personnel.

At the scene, an asset protection officer told Bailey the suspect had been observed placing cosmetics items into a backpack and purse she was carrying. The woman was then observed selected other items in various parts of the store, including an electric toothbrush, hair accessories and women’s clothing items.

When she went to exit the store without making any attempt to pay, she was met by employees and escorted back inside, where various items with a combined value of $294 were recovered.

Deanna L. Curran, 26, 30 Colonial Road, Burrillville, was arrested on a charge of shoplifting and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. She was later released with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court.

Shortly after 7 p.m. on April 21, Officer Sara Goes responded to the Nordstrom Rack store at the Warwick Mall for a report of a shoplifting incident in progress. Dispatch then advised a female suspect was in the custody of asset protection personnel.

At the scene, store employees told Goes the woman had been observed entering the store’s accessories department and “randomly selecting numerous items, very clearly not having any regard for the price tags.” The woman then exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items, at which point she was met by employees and escorted back inside.

Two pairs of shoes and a wallet, with a combined value of nearly $190, were recovered.

Jocelyn M. Lambert, 43, 20 East Barrows St., Cumberland, was arrested on a charge of shoplifting and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. The charge was filed as a felony due to previous convictions.

SUSPENDED LICENSE

At approximately 4 a.m. on April 17, Officer Nathaniel Gray was on a fixed traffic post on Jefferson Boulevard when he observed a gray SUV leave the Motel 6 parking lot and travel onto the Interstate 95 north on-ramp “at a high rate of speed.”

Gray followed the vehicle as it continued to travel north, clocking it at 75 mph in a 55 mph zone. He then initiated a stop in the area of exit 16.

Gray made contact with the vehicle’s female passenger and male operator. The driver was found through a records check to have a suspended license and “more than three” previous convictions for driving without a license. He was additionally wanted on an active arrest warrant issued from Scituate Police.

Judd Terrell, 30, 50 Addeo St., Apt. 2, Providence, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license, third or subsequent offense, and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. He was additionally cited for speeding. He was later transported to Scituate Police headquarters and transferred into that department’s custody on the warrant.

EXPIRED/NO LICENSE

At approximately 3 a.m. on April 18, Officer Tyler Luiz was traveling on Bald Hill Road when he observed a 2009 BMW 750 I “serving back and forth” between two lanes.

Luiz initiated a motor vehicle stop on New London Avenue in Cranston and made contact with the operator, who was found through a records check to have no active license and “several” prior convictions for driving without a license.

Milly M. Mosquea, 37, 68 Oakgrove St., East Greenwich, was arrested on a charge of driving without/expired license, third or subsequent offense, and transported to Warwick Police headquarters for processing. She was later released with a summons to appear in Third Division District Court. She was additionally cited for laned roadway violations.

MALICIOUS DAMAGE

At approximately 9 p.m. on April 20, Officer Tyler Stone responded to a Hayes Street home for a report of malicious damage to a vehicle.

At the scene, the reporting party told Stone he had been driving east on West Shore Road at approximately 8 o’clock that night in his 2008 Subaru Impreza. As he drove under train trestle in the area of Long Street, a person in a Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling in the opposite direction “threw a water bottle from the driver’s side.” The water bottle struck the front bumper of the Impreza, causing “a vent piece to become dislodged and the bumper itself to snap as it was made of a thin plastic.”

The reporting party was unable to immediately provide dash camera footage of the incident. The damage to the vehicle was photographed and the matter was documented.

LOST PROPERTY

Just after 6:30 p.m. on April 24, Officer Kyle Palmer met with a man at Warwick Police headquarters regarding a report of lost property.

The reporting party told Palmer he had been at Launch Trampoline Park on Bald Hill Road earlier that day when he set his wallet down on the bar after ordering a drink. Roughly 20 minutes later, he realized the wallet was missing and went to retrieve it, but it could not be located after a search around the business.

The wallet, valued at $150, is said to have contained a Connecticut driver’s license, a Social Security card, and other credit and medical cards.
